Elopement-Wedding in Berlin

Wedding Story

An Elopment-Wedding without guests is becoming a trend for many couples lately. So also for the Swedish couple Marta & Leonidas from Stockholm, who had asked me if I would accompany them both on the day of their wedding in Berlin. The common passion for traveling and the great love for Berlin were the reason for the spontaneous celebration. They absolutely wanted to book me as photographer because they loved my raw, documentary “Berlin style“.

Wedding in the Swedish Church Berlin

Of course, they decided in favor of the Swedish Church Berlin (Svenska Victoriaförsamlingen) in Wilmersdorf. It is one of only four Swedish church congregations in Germany. After the Swedish wedding ceremony there was a small champagne reception in the backyard of the Victorian Swedish community. Of course with a bottle of Lutter & Wegner Gendarmenmarkt sparkling wine from Berlin.

Couple photos in the Pallasseum

For the couple photos, we have come up with something very special. Marta & Leonidas raved about their fascination with brutalism architecture during our preliminary Skype talk. That’s why we drove right after the wedding to the Pallaseum, a listed block of flats in Berlin’s district Schöneberg. Here we walked together through the fascinating backyards and staircases of social housing. Definitely a refreshing change for me. As a wedding photographer, I do not want to put the couple in any concept for my own ego. The location just fit perfectly with the two.
